What We Do & Can Do...

The club is totally self-managed by all its members who should share in the tasks of laying out the courts, putting Equipment away at the end and preparing refreshments as required. There is no dress code for club sessions, but members playing in League matches and competitions are asked to wear whites. All lawn Equipment is provided but you must wear flat soled shoes. Croquet is taken seriously by most players at all standards but the emphasis at the club is on having fun, friendship and exercise.

The club plays in competitions across the North-West, and enters teams in national and international competitions. Informal play takes place on different days of each week in the summer.

In addition to offering croquet outdoors, there are regular Social sessions held at our fabulous, newly furnished Pavilion in Whitehead Park where you can play indoor croquet, cards, pool, domino's etc or simply relax and chat whilst having a cuppa and forming new friendships.

Men, Women and Teenagers all play against each other without any discrimination because there is a "Handicap System" that ensures each person plays at their own level and can still win the game, no matter who they play against.

We hold many fund raising activities for charity (our main one being Bury Hospice) including Fun Days on the lawns, quizes, wine tasting, Christmas party, annual dinner etc. External groups can come and play on arrangement with our Social Secretary and we can hold corporate events for companies.

Corporate Sessions.
Croquet is an ideal sport for an evening to facilitate team-building and staff communication. Played in pairs, there is a bit of planning, immediate feedback (you run a hoop or you don't) and a lot of laughter. The Club will set up the lawns, provide all Equipment, except flat-soled shoes, run a short training session and supervise the games. Food and drink can be provided. Similar events can also be arranged for all types of association or club social functions.

Games are played outdoors at Coronation Park, Radcliffe and Whitehead Park, Bury, on private lawns, between April and September, and indoors all the year round at our clubhouse at Whitehead Park. For information on prices and arranging an event contact our events secretary.

Boules/Petanque.
We now offer a game of Boules on our international sized court.

Games are played outdoors at Whitehead Park, Ainsworth Road, Bury, BL8 2PY.
You can include this, free of charge, as part of your croquet event
